I started a YouTube channel! And I’ll be honest — starting a YouTube channel has been way scarier than I expected.😱
Not because I don’t have ideas, but because of… well, fear.
- Fear of looking awkward on camera.
- Fear that nobody will watch.
- Fear that my first 100 videos will absolutely suck.
The truth? I am awkward on camera, I probably won't get 1000's of views, and the first 100 videos will suck. And… I’m okay with all of that. This is what it means to be a beginner.
📒 The Lesson I Learned
If there’s one thing I hear over and over from the people I follow on YouTube, it’s this:
“I wish I had started sooner.”
So instead of waiting for perfect lighting, expensive editing software, or some magical confidence boost, I just grabbed my phone, hit record, and uploaded. Done.
Nobody cares if my videos aren’t polished. What matters is that I started.
💡 My 10% Edge
Amy Porterfield recently wrote in an email (I subscribe to her content) about something called the “10% edge.” It’s not about being an expert. It’s about being just 10% ahead of the person you’re helping.
That hit me hard. Because my edge isn’t perfection, it’s action. I may not know everything about affiliate or digital marketing, but I do know how to take messy, imperfect steps forward. And that’s what I want to share with you.
✨ For You
Whatever you’re holding back on — whether it’s starting a YouTube channel, launching your first blog, or even hitting publish on a pin or post — don’t wait until it’s perfect.
Start where you are. Take the action. Figure it out as you go.
